Inspections

There are several types of inspections performed by city staff, including the following: 

Building Inspections

Performed by the Building Department, these inspections are completed at specific stages in the building process and required before building permits are finalized. 

On-site inspections will be required to ensure the work conforms to the permit, the approved plans, and all applicable federal, state, county, and local codes. Again, you will have access to the expertise of the City’s inspectors to help you with questions or concerns regarding the project and to minimize potential costly mistakes. Depending on the size of the project, the number of inspections may vary. Your contractor will be responsible for calling progress inspections throughout the course of the job. Inspections that are called in before 3:00 pm are typically performed the following business day.

Certificates of Use Inspections 

Performed by the Code Compliance Department, these inspections relate to issuing a Certificate of Use verifying that the use applied for is appropriate in the zoning district. 

Code Compliance Inspections

Performed by the Code Compliance Department, these inspections relate to the code compliance complaints. 

Local Business Tax Inspections 

Performed by the Code Compliance Department, these inspections relate to issuing business licenses.
