Autism Outreach Program

Autism Outreach Program

The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department’s Autism Outreach Program is designed to better serve community members with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Through this program, we aim to maintain a database of individuals with ASD to enhance our response and interactions. Participation is voluntary.

How to Join

To participate, please fill out the form below with information about the person with ASD. The information provided will be sent directly to Sunny Isles Beach Police Department’s Communications Unit and added to our database. All information will be handled in accordance to Florida Public Records law, ensuring that any confidential or exempt information is not released to the public.

Vehicle & Home Decals

As part of the Autism Outreach Program, SIBPD provides decals for the participant’s vehicle(s) and home. Vehicle decals should be placed inside the vehicle on the bottom lefthand (driver’s) side of the rear window. Home decals should be placed in a visible location at the entrance of the participant’s home on the front door or a window.

Decals may be picked up at the records window in the Police Department in the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center, 18070 Collins Avenue, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 pm.

Benefits

This program allows responding officers to be prepared for situations involving individuals with ASD, ensuring appropriate and effective handling of each incident. Ultimately, the Autism Outreach Program aims to improve these interactions for everyone involved.
