Ride Safe, Wear a Helmet.

The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department wants to make sure you are riding safely on bicycles and scooters. Always wear a helmet, and make sure it fits properly. SIBPD offers a free Bicycle Helmet Fitting and Giveaway program for children, teens, and adults.

How to Get a Free Helmet

1. Contact: Sandra Block at 305.792.1839 or sblock@sibpd.net to make an appointment.

2. Location: Helmets will be fitted at the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department, 2nd Floor of the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center, 18070 Collins Avenue.

3. Availability: Helmets are available in various sizes on a first-come, first-serve basis. When supplies run out, there may be a waiting period until a new shipment arrives.

4. Requirements: Parents or legal guardians must accompany children.

Florida bicycle law 316.2065(3) (d) and City Ordinance 2023-609 require that all bicycle riders, passengers, and scooter riders under 16 years of age must wear a properly fitted helmet.  

Wearing a bicycle helmet can reduce the risk of head injury by 85%, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
