Balloon Release Ban

Balloon releases are often used at ceremonial or memorial events. Unfortunately, what goes up, must come down. Debris from these releases eventually land on our beaches, waterways, and ocean, potentially entangling marine life and polluting our coastline.

Recognizing that balloon releases are harmful to the environment, the City Commission passed an ordinance in February 2022 banning intentional balloon releases within our city. Instead of a balloon release for a party or memorial try planting a tree, using a bubble machine, or handing out candles and lights.
