The City of Sunny Isles Beach aims to keep residents, visitors and businesses informed on mosquito-related mitigation efforts within the City. Below you will find useful information and links.
Sunny Isles Beach Mitigation Efforts
The summer months are peak mosquito season. During this time, the City of Sunny Isles Beach implements a number of preventative measures to mitigate the mosquito population in our area. Mosquito treatments are scheduled in our parks and streets.
Our Building and Code Compliance departments routinely inspect properties for standing water throughout the City to ensure they are compliant with our code. Any findings of non-compliance are addressed to the full extent of our authority. In cases where a remedy is not immediately available, that area is treated to mitigate the breeding of mosquitoes.
In addition to the above, the City takes extra measures by treating both our stormwater retention areas and our drainage catch basins throughout the City to prohibit mosquitoes from breeding. We also spray our parks and beaches during mosquito season. We contract with a licensed and environmentally-friendly mosquito control company that services the City.
