The sale and distribution of plastic beverage straws and stirrers in Sunny Isles Beach is prohibited. Ordinance 2019-543 states that no beverage provider or food provider in Sunny Isles Beach shall sell, distribute or provide plastic beverage straws to customers who have purchased a ready-to-drink beverage for consumption on or off the premises.

The Code Compliance Department will work with our business community and residents to educate them about the ordinance prior to enforcement.

The following penalties apply:

  • First Violation: $100
  • Second Violation: $200
  • Third and Subsequent Violations: $500
